CLOSING NIGHT EVENT
ALAMANCE READS 2011

What better way to end such a huge community event than with a square dance?

square dancers

Saturday night (of course, it would have to be Saturday night!) join us at Thataways Teen Center in City Park in Burlington for what might prove to be the most fun thing you will do all winter. We have hired a professional square dance caller to bring his music and his teaching skills to Burlington. You don't have to know how to dance a step, because our caller will guide you through the steps and the motions as people both young and old dance the night away. Bring the kids. Bring the grandparents or just sneak out and have a fun night of your own.

Remember from The Pleasure Was Mine how much fun all those artists at Penland had square dancing? Well, here is your chance to create your own fun. We will also have some line dancing (Maybe to Goodnight, Irene? You are going to wish you read this book!) and barbeque sandwiches with the fixins for those that attend..

Because our author Tommy Hays will also be with us (Save me a dance, Tommy), you get once last chance to meet him and discuss his wonderful book. We will pass out awards for the writing contest and offer up a cheer and special thank yous to our sponsors and volunteers.

Please do come join us. Remember all Alamance Reads events are free of charge. What better way to spend a Saturday night!
