EVENT: LIA MILLER, DIRECTOR, CENTER FOR CREATIVE AGING NC
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2011 3:00 PM TO 5:00 PM
KERNODLE SENIOR CENTER, BURLINGTON, NC
Join us at the Kernodle Senior Center for what should prove to be one of the most interesting, informative events of our Alamance Reads 2011 programs.
Lia Miller, Director of the Center for Creative Aging in Greensboro, NC, will present the TimeSlips creative storytelling method. This method of storytelling opens storytelling to everyone by replacing the pressure to remember with encouragement to imagine. The project aims to inspire people with dementia to hone and share the gifts of their imagination, inspire others to see beyond the loss and to recognize the strength of people with dementia; and to improve the quality of life of people with dementia and those who care for them.
All levels of caregivers, relatives and friends of patients, and anyone else who is interested is encouraged to attend. Lia will demonstrate the method, hoping to use audience participants.
This event is free of charge and is being held in conjunction with our Memory Book demonstration.
This program has been developed by volunteers from The Burlington Women's Club, whose participation in Alamance Reads is so appreciated.
For more information on the TimeSlip storytelling method, see our link section or contact your local library for available books.
